Tasting - Crane Lake Sangiovese

Name: Crane Lake Sangiovese 2015
Variety: Sangiovese
Region: California
Country: United States of America
Year: 2015
Price: $10

Winery ReviewMedium-garnet color; blackberry, plum and vanilla aromas; raspberry and cherry flavors; with supple tannins for a soft finish.  This wine pairs well with fresh mozzarella and Brie cheeses. Also try it along with veal piccata, chicken parmesan or meat lasagna.

My Review: I didn't like this wine. Right away, the smell was very earthy and pungent. It hits you in the nose. There were hints of black cherry in the smell too. The taste was also super earthy, and tastes like what I assume leather would taste like. I did not taste many fruits in it, since the leather was so overwhelming.

I tasted this wine without food.
